Training videos and materials were developed prior to the Rule 132 update in 2019. Services discussed in videos are now located in Rule 140. While the basics of the service types are similar, you will want to compare them to the current service definitions in the Community Based Behavioral Services Handbook.
Integrated Assessment and Treatment Plan is a service that was designated after the creation of the videos. If you would like basic information that is related to assessment and treatment planning please review Mental Health Assessment and Individual Treatment Plan. Currently, Illinois has a standard document called the IM+CANS that must be completed for purposes of assessment and treatment planning.
Video Training
Assessment: This 12-minute video gives an overview of the Mental Health Assessment (MHA) and its function in providing the groundwork for treatment planning and service provision. Emphasis is given on how to support medical necessity. The video also presents information about determining a preventative diagnosis for services to clients who do not yet fully meet DSM-5 diagnostic criteria of a mental health condition. Treatment Planning: This 17-minute video provides an overview of the treatment planning process resulting in an Individual Treatment Plan (ITP) report. It discusses the process of identifying treatment planning goals and objectives stemming from the clients' presenting problems. Community Support: This 15-minute video describes eight types of mental health interventions that can be used under Community Support services. Information is provided and examples are given to assist in identifying the action(s) that make up a compliant mental health intervention. Therapy & Counseling: This 12-minute video identifies the three elements of a Therapy/Counseling progress note (mental health intervention, client response to the mental health intervention and the progress statement), gives examples showing how to clearly document these elements in a progress note and shares helpful hints and tips. Case Management: This 7-minute video defines the three types of Case Management services (Case Management-Mental Health, Case Management-Client Centered Consultation, and Case Management-Transition, Linkage and Aftercare). Examples of each type of Case Management service are provided.
